Is Virgin Voyages Worth It? My Honest Review of the Valiant Lady & Tips for Adults-Only Cruising with Virgin Voyages

December 05, 2025

Coming from someone who's been on two Virgin Voyages cruises, it's safe to say it's worth it. I'll be honest, the price tag is a bit steep, but there are barely any upcharges for things like wifi compared to most cruise lines, which makes it worthwhile. Let's start with the fact that it's an adults-only cruise line.

Now, I love kids and being an auntie, but the adults-only vibe on the Valiant Lady felt luxurious and peaceful. And when the sun set and the moon rose, we were all ready to party!

Why I Chose Virgin Voyages

Here’s what drew me in:

Adults-Only Atmosphere: Just grown-ups, meaning it was peaceful when I wanted to relax and lively when I wanted to party (for 5 minutes because I am an introvert lol).

Unlimited Dining and No Buffets: Every meal felt like a restaurant experience. Since you can order from any seat in The Galley (the ship's food hall), there were no cafeteria vibes, just menus and table service. It also felt more sanitary.

Included Wi-Fi: This should be standard across all cruise lines! $30 per day per device can add up quickly, so thank you, Virgin Voyages, for including free wifi on the cruise!

Entertainment That’s Actually Fun: The shows were my favorite part of the cruise! They really know how to do live acrobatic shows and live music on this cruise line!

Fire & Sunset Soireés Valiant Lady Itinerary & Tips

Day 1 – Miami Embarkation

Departed from Miami, boarded in the early afternoon, explored the ship, and settled into my cabin.

Tip: Book events as soon as you get on the ship because they fill quickly! Plus, the sooner you board, the better!

Day 2 – Key West, Florida

Left the ship around 9 am and explored Key West. Had the best key lime pie at Kermit's Key Lime Pie Shop!

Day 3 – Sailing

Spent the day eating way too much ice cream on the ship (complimentary, btw) and enjoying the shows.

Day 4 – The Beach Club at Bimini

Chilled in the pools at the Beach Club in Bimini and enjoyed the DJ's tunes. Try to get there early to claim a free floatie! Came back to the ship, took a nap, and got ready for the famous Scarlet Night, an all-red themed party that takes over the entire ship.

Day 5 – Return to Miami

If you can get one last breakfast with ocean views before disembarking, go for it! I, however, can't help but sleep in.

Virgin Voyages Restaurants and & Drinks to Try

Restaurants I Loved:

Extra Virgin: Handmade pasta and affogato that was tasty. I recommend the branzino.

Gunbae: Delicious Korean BBQ! It's shared seating, so you sit with a group of strangers depending on your party size. Between the drinking games and delicious food, the strangers you're seated next to become friends.

The Wake: Their bread rolls are sooo good! I liked the interior design of this restaurant the most.

Test Kitchen: It's like a Michelin-star restaurant without the price tag. It's a great way to try experimental food pairings.

Pro Tip: Book your dining reservations as soon as you can in the app. Even though it’s “unlimited,” the popular spots fill up.

Is Entertainment on Virgin Voyages Good?

Virgin Voyages feels like a boutique hotel crossed with a festival. There is live music by the pool during the day and fun competition games sprinkled throughout the ship. Not to toot my own horn, but my husband and I always win first place for cruise games.

The shows are amazing! I still remember an acrobatic show I saw on my first Virgin Voyages cruise. Maybe one day I'll be able to do a cartwheel.

Scarlet Night was the highlight. Everyone dressed up in red and there were so many great live performances in random corners of the ship.

If you’re into nightlife, you’ll love it. If you’re more low-key like me, there are plenty of cozy lounges and quiet nooks to unwind in while people-watching the extroverts.

Virgin Voyages Tips for First-Timers

  • Download the Virgin Voyages App Before You Go – You’ll need it for check-in, reservations, and daily schedules.
  • Plan Your Outfits Around Themed Nights – Scarlet Night is worth going all out for. My packing guide has full inspo.
  • Make Reservations Early – Especially for specialty dining and popular shows.
  • Explore the Ship Early – There are so many hidden corners that make great photo spots.
  • Hydrate – The cocktails are delicious, but the sun and sea breeze will sneak up on you. There's a pitcher of water in your cabin that your housekeeping attendant fills up for you every time they clean your cabin. I really appreciated it!

Final Thoughts

Virgin Voyages isn’t your typical cruise, and that’s exactly why I loved it. It’s stylish, modern, and fun! Whether you’re into lounging, dancing, or just sipping on endless margaritas, it is a great cruise experience.
